What a month!

Sometimes the days get away from you. In my case, an entire month! Here's a quick look into what I've been up to...

A hospital visit. Miss Sass has asthma. A few weeks ago, she had an asthma attack and just couldn't recover. We rushed to the ER and spent the night there. She had another asthma attack that same weekend. It was not as severe as the first and we did not have to go back in. However, she was then on additional steroids for a little over a week. If you have ever had a child on prednisone, you understand the challenge here! We had a wild child for two weeks!

I am also going through some medical junk... I'm being tested for Celiac disease. More people than ever have at least heard of Celiac disease and gluten intolerance/sensitivity, so some of you may know what this means. I was put on a gluten free diet in the spring following blood tests and have felt so much better! Now however, they have decided to do a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. This means I have to eat gluten again until the test is completed. This means all of my symptoms are coming back, but with a vengeance! I've been throwing up daily and had severe headaches and back pain and I feel like I can barely focus on anything! I'm sure many of you don't care, but hey, it's my blog. Right? :)

Another hospital visit.... Miss Sass again. Not asthma this time. She was chasing her brother through the house and got two fingers slammed in a door. Thankfully, there were no broken bones! She has a pretty nasty gash on one of the fingers and some bruising and swelling on both. It looks to be healing well and will not require stitches, so long as the skin re-attaches itself properly and there is not any infection.

My work and my husband's work have been very busy and overwhelming lately. My hubby has worked many late nights and weekends. With three kids, all involved in different activities, the day just flies by!

All of these things have kept me racing around and feeling that I don't have time even for the things that must be done each day. But things are starting to calm down. It feels like we've finally established a routine for our daily activities.

So, here is the beginning of a list of posts I've had waiting for me to write and publish. Hope you've all had a great month and I look forward to getting back into the swing of things!

Love Your Life

I had originally written a novel to go with this thought. But I realized that it speaks for itself and to everyone in a different way.

Every family is unique and beautiful. Every child is unique and beautiful.

And what's important to me? My family and I are happy (most of the time). And that's perfect!

5 Strand Diagonal Braid

We've faced some interesting challenges since the fall and are finally getting back to  "normal" life. I may document some of the experiences here later on. Basically, we went to a new pediatrician, ended up going through a series of specialists (ENT, Allergist, Immunologist, Asthma), minor surgery, entirely new medicine regimen and action plan, and now-hopefully-a girl who can lead a relatively normal life! Honestly, it is good news! Just stressful at times and ridiculously busy! Thanks to everyone still hanging around and we hope to see much much more of you all!

So, for this style, I followed a tutorial on my favorite hair blog, Girly Do's. Jenn is amazing as ever and continues to deliver unique, beautiful, and simple/soft styles! Little Miss and I have lost track of time more than once just looking at all of her awesome posts!

Veteran's Day is important in our house. We have family members who are currently serving or who have served. And we just love our country and feel so blessed to live here. Those who fight to protect our freedoms should be honored. So today, my post is for them.

The Circus - And Some Cute Braids

Okay, I have to say a quick thank you and share a great blog for you to check out.
First I should say that I have three kids. Most of you know this... They are my whole world. I love them and how wonderfully crazy they are! That being said, I'm happy with three. I can't imagine more. I wouldn't be able to handle it. Lol. Which is why I love the woman I'm about to link to. She has 6 kids and does so many cool things for them! Big families are amazing and beautiful to me and I love to read stories about them and to peek into their daily lives.
So, go check out ~The Circus~ She has entertaining and lovely photos, funny stories, and a down-to-earth attitude about life and kids. Gotta love it!
She linked to one of my posts and that makes me feel oh-so-special. So thank you!!! ;)

Going to share some quick photos of a new style we tried. I love the way it looks. Some of you might be able to figure it out with my description.... I hope.

The Hair Band = New Hair Blog

New hair blog! Awesome for short hair! She is new and I'm loving how fun and sweet her styles are. I liked this one in particular. Simple, sweet, and perfect for all lengths of hair!

Soon I'll do an updated post with this style... It is a french-fishtail in just the top section there. I didn't think it was going to be so cute when I did it. I was just in a hurry to do something! ;) But she got a lot of compliments that day, so I stopped her outside the school at the end of the day and grabbed these shots.... She was freezing so we just jumped in the car and I didn't get anything better. Lol. I'll definitely be re-using this style. I loved the bump it created at the front~
*Jeans and shoes from GAP
*Tank from Target
Sweater by Express... this might sound crazy, but this is a women's xsmall. She found this on the girls rack at the DAV!

Random Photos...

I am so excited for the upcoming holidays! I have several new posts in the works, including a few tutu sets that I made and received fan photos of. ( So cute! Eeek!) And then I have a few hair do's we've used recently, Halloween costumes, and a totally new style... haven't had one of those in a while! So, please bear with me and I'll have some fun things this next week!!! For now though, just some random pics from the last two weeks. ;)

Homework Woes

We've still been really busy around here, but are almost back to our normal schedule! I will hopefully get a new post up tomorrow. We have picture day coming up and I have a few new styles I've been wanting to try. ;) But for today, I am just going to share a few fun and silly photos...
So, doesn't everyone work on homework like this? Lol
Okay, now for an embarrassing mom moment... First, back story: Every Wednesday at our house is crazy. We leave school, have just enough time for dinner and head to church. Then we get home after that with just enough time for baths and bed... So last week, the kids jumped into the car after school and I paid no attention to anything. ;) After church, I tried to have them finish homework. I sent Little Miss to work on the sheet above. She is in 1st grade and was having trouble. The boys went to bed and I just tried to encourage her to keep going. She ended up falling asleep in the chair. Next morning, I realized this was actually her older brother's assignment. Oooops!!! I helped her with the first few in each section, but she did the rest. She got most of them right! Lol
Well, this was the next morning... HER homework in hand and completed before school! Oh, and she picked her entire outfit that day and was so very proud! ;)

Princess Party - Tutu Set

So, this week has been a rough one for Miss Sass. She has asthma and allergies. She missed two days of school, had two appts with the doctor and is on 3 steroids, breathing treatments, an antibiotic, and allergy meds. (Plus some tylenol for headache and chills) So, we didn't do hair everyday and the days we did, it was just ponytails or piggies. I think I looked through pics every night trying to post about something and there was just nothing there! However, I did get to make a Tutu set last week and I wanted to share some photos with you all from that bday party. ;)

A Word About Fashion

I occasionally get emails requesting info about my little girl's clothing and shoes. So, I've decided to just add a little blurb about her outfit in each post... at least the ones that are new, extra cute, or that you can actually see in the photos. ;) This girl loves her clothes and can tell you all about who wears what in her class. So, this should be fun! Let me know what you think of our little fashion blurbs and our recent styles and I'll try to incorporate more of the things you are looking for and enjoy! Thanks so much!!!

Okay, so this is just a quick do for gym or dance days! We were running really short on time and Little Miss has bangs that won't just stay in a ponytail. So, we did this simple little do! Yes, I realize it was a little crooked... I fixed that before we left for school, but didn't get pics. Of course! ;)
These next two photos were taken after school yesterday. Little Miss and her classmates were videotaped earlier that day. She was sooo excited to be on camera! Lol, haven't seen the footage yet, but I'm sure she was adorable! ;) I curled her hair with the flat iron and put in a new headband. Nothing major, but I was happy to see that she still had some curl left... even if the wind and her playing did play havock with the style!

I hope everyone is having a happy fall! I'd love to see some of your recent do's and even feature a guest on my blog! I have been very busy and am still adjusting to life with all three kids in school, running my own business, a husband working and in a Masters program, volunteering at my kids school because I am that mom... well, you get the idea! Lots of love to my friends and followers out there!

Easter is Almost Here!

So, a lot of you have been emailing me and asking when I'll be back! ;) I love the kindness you've shown and I have really missed blogging. Since so many of you have said that you don't care what I blog about, I'm taking that to heart... at least for this post. ;)

So, what have we been up to? Well, I started working with my best friend making the bow business a success. We have had a ton of orders lately and I am so so excited about it! My mama has joined the group as well and is creating all these amazing little onesies and dresses! I'll share all of these throughout my posts, but I thought I'd start with this dress. ;)

Easter is coming up quickly and Mama had this adorable dress hanging on her rack of things for sale! Well, Little Miss immediately asked if she'd be modeling and started taking things off. Lol!
Isn't it just so cute?! Well, my bestie and I have been working on spring and summer colors and had just made this bow that couldn't have been matched better if we'd already seen the dress. ;)
And since this is a hair blog, I'll mention that I parted her hair far to one side and put her bangs into a small inside-out french braid. Then I covered the elastic with the bow. Simple and sweet. (though later I decided the rest could have used some curls.)
Anyway, we are offering this dress in limited quantities with matching hairbow for $25, just $5 extra for piggies!!! If you are interested, just let me know and I'll get you the info to order! ;)
Well, thanks again for all of the sweet comments and emails! I love hearing from all of you and I'm jumping back in! ;) I look forward to spending regular time in blogworld again!!!

WHERE ARE YOU?! - Hearts Pigtails

When I checked my blog comments, this was one of them. Lol, I've missed you all too!!! ;) It seems like this year has been one thing after another for our family... it's just too much happening! We've had injuries, illnesses, thankfully very few deaths (though I feel like one is too many!), and just other life stuff. So, I'm sorry for the crazy schedule I've been keeping on my blog. Life got crazy on us again this month and I just didn't have the time or energy to get things posted. I do have some hairstyles ready though, because I still fixed Little Miss's hair, even though I didn't post about it. ;)

I think I had some idea of a name for this one when I did it. Like double-hearted piggies... or some such. Lol, no matter I guess. ;)

Curls, curls, curls...

I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! We had a great time with family and friends. We hung at our home, ate my hubby's BBQ chicken, Aunt Amy's Potato Salad, Papa Dave's Salsa, Papa Randy's Baked Beans, my sister's green bean casserole, and my nacho cheese Doritos. heh (I can only cook certain things.) Anyway, we were pretty busy and still will be for a couple days! However, I wanted to give a little sneak peek at what I have in store for this upcoming week...
My niece and her gorgeous natural curl. Some de-tangling tips, a cute style, and some adorable sass! ;)
Something I know some of you have been waiting for... CURLFORMERS! Lol, I have had them for a little over a week and both Little Miss and I have used them. So far, I LOVE them! Definitely a review and some tips coming your way.
Oh, and of course the results of these miracle curlers on Little Miss Sass. She's a doll. ;)
A sideways picture, for some odd reason it uploaded this way. heh. I have a cute 'do that could be worked for everyday, dressed up for church, or glammed up for pageant/dance/skating performances. So excited to share this natural fluffy fun with all of you!
And speaking of natural... I've got a review coming of a new product in Miss Sass's cabinet. A brand that will be taking up permanent residence in our bathroom! ;) I'm super excited about this one too. It is perfect for little girls with skin problems, breathing complications, or other health issues that can be adversely affected by the chemicals in your average hair care products!

P is for Pneumonia

So, we had a very sick little girl earlier this year... I decided to go ahead and post what happened for two reasons. One, this might help another family avoid this situation. Two, several good online friends have asked and I feel comfortable sharing this information with our blog community. ;) So, hear it is. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
First, I wanted to share a few pictures of Sis. That is one of my favorite things! ;) In the first, you'll see the same tired/sad eyes that we saw for weeks... In the second, the day before she started to get sick. In this picture you can see the circular bruise on her chest. So, here's the story.
Sis became very sick with severe cold/pneumonia-like symptoms. It took a few days before we discovered the cause of her illness. At a birthday party, Sis took a fall and hit her chest on something. This caused a rupture of her left lung and also of the pericardium (sac around the heart). With the rupture, some air was able to seep into the pericardium and the lining around her lung. This caused a nasty infection and pneumonia. After we found the root of the problem, we began treatments. She was on a steroid treatment as well as some antibiotics and other things. This injury has the potential to be very serious, even life-threatening, but God watched over our little girl. The biggest risk was that her coughing could reinjure the tear in her lung or pericardium. (Which would be a bad thing!) We went through several very rough nights. I couldn't sleep while I watched Sis breathing, so shallow and strained. For the few days before we started the treatments, she barely moved and was only awake for a few hours. However, Sis healed very quickly once we knew what was wrong! She started playing and running and dancing again after an OK from the doctor. ;) The original injury was simply an accident, but the rest could have been avoided. The second picture was taken just before dance; that night she started coughing. All of the jumping, skipping, twisting and running in dance class seems to be what started it. Most likely, her injury was worsened by the movement and that is when she got sick. From now on, I will watch chest injuries more closely! But for now I am just happy to have my little girl back! ;)

Hello? Anyone there?!

It's been months! ;) As I was reading a blog yesterday, I realized how terribly I miss this world!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season... Christmas, New Year, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day... Geez, it's almost Easter! ;) I haven't read or posted in so long, I'm not sure I remember what to do. Lol! But I will try! I have done a ton of new hairstyles since last fall, but I think I'll just start with now. ;) For my first post back, I'll just post a few pics of my favorite little models... my kids. ;)
First is my Mr. Cool;) He didn't really want to do pictures, but at least I got one sweet smile from him! Oh, and that smile is getting ready to change big time... he's losing a front tooth, so cute!
And here's my sweet Drama Boy. The charmer and adorable blue-eyed blonde of the family! He's starting to get these beyond cute freckles on his nose and cheeks! ;)
And last, that firecracker you know as Sis. ;) Still cute and red as ever, she has been doing some modeling and online pageants and tons of playing! ;) Currently, she is in a cute kid contest and would love to have your vote! It is just a one-time vote by this Friday, so really not much work. ;) Thank you for supporting her!

Sharing the Love!!!

Isn't love great! ;) I just want to say a big thanks and announce to everyone who it is that made this award for me, but she chooses to remain anonymous. So instead I'm sending it on. And I couldn't help but share this awesome award with some of my favorite bloggers! So here goes...
First, I want to share this with a woman who is both a good friend and an amazing mommy! She has an extremely entertaining blog about her family, mainly her two little girls. So to Amber at
Your hilarious stories keep me sane, believing I'm not alone on the parenting journey. And your willingness to approach topics many shy away from keeps me refreshed and encouraged!

And next, to the amazing woman who I steal more hairstyles from than anyone else (even my mom!) She doesn't just do hair either; she always seems to be helping people in one way or another. So for Jenn over at Girly Do's
You're inspirational!
