We love this style and Miss Sass has asked for it many times. It looks great and holds up well. This was our second-day 'do....

French Braids and Curls ~ First Day of School

I don't think I've shared before what I do when I'm not being Mom or hairdresser... I work at a middle school as the Athletic Secretary and the Secretary to the Assistant Principal. If you have student who plays sports in school, you know how crazy things can get! The last two weeks have been non-stop!
All this to say.... I'm a little behind. Ha! These are from earlier this week, but this is from her first day of school for this new year~

Braided Piggies for Hats and Bobbi-Toads

Hats are awesome and can be so so cute! But they aren't allowed in school. This style transitions perfectly. It works for cold weather hats and fun sun-blocking caps...

This cute style will definitely be in our school style line-up this year~

Scattered Braids and Ladder Braid Fold Over

I love the way this style turned out! Miss Sass said that it felt a little funny on her neck, but when she saw the pictures she said I should do it again soon. It might even be our First Day of School style. :)

Braided Bun

We've had several really hot days this week, so we've been going for off-the-neck styles. I love this one because it is simple and out of her face, but also pretty.

Braids for Hot Summer Days

One of our boys has baseball tournament this week, so we have been running non-stop and have been out in the heat for long periods of time! These are two really simple styles that held up all day.

Back to School Photo Bomb

We've been busy. As usual! I didn't take step-by-steps of any of these styles, but wanted to share them anyway. Hope you find some useful, or at least fun!

This first style is really very simple! It is a "cheater" french braid in the front section of hair. I pulled it together in a low side bun along with the rest of her hair and added a bow. Voila!

Little Miss has layered hair making french braids a little tricky at times, but I still love a side braid! This one is simple. Inside-out (or dutch) braid starting at the front off to one side. Braid down and back to the opposite side. I kept a couple pieces out on the bigger side and then twisted those pieces back and added to a lower section of the braid. Hair spray liberally!

**Weather in the midwest... One day it's hot, the next is freezing!**
This is just a french braid along the front, pulled back with a bow. The rest of the hair is curled.

Smooth ballerina bun...

Wake up late? Fix it with a big, but cute, headband! Ha!

I still love pigtails on this girl. Simple, but sweet. These are fishtail braids. I think they give it a more detailed look.

Last is a french braid right at the top/front and then the hair all pulled into a high ponytail. Add a big, beautiful cheer bow and you are ready for spirit day! :)

Hope you all are having a wonderful start to your year!

Let's Go 5th Graders, Let's Go!

Miss Sass and several other students got the opportunity to cheer on the 5th graders in a recent pep assembly. The 5th graders are preparing to tackle State Assessments and these kids are helping them stay encouraged!

Nails

Just a few quick photos today. Last week was a very busy week and this week has not been much better so far. ;) However, we do have a trip to the pumpkin patch coming up and another spirit day. Can't wait for those! Okay, this first one is from last Friday (I know... late) This was their school spirit day. Although you can't really see it, she was trying to show off her nails, which were painted green. Love that these are the colors this year... works so well with her red hair! Lol
*Long sleeved tee and shorts from GAP
*Leggings and boots from Walmart
*Nail polish by Sinful Colors - purchased at Walgreen's for 1.99!!
And more nails... just for fun! ;) Mommy-daughter manicures from last night! Her hot pink and steel polish are both by Sally Girl! I love love their colors! Often we only need one coat and they have sooo many colors! Best of all, they are $1 each at Sally's Beauty Supply!
And last, the proud princess! Hope you all are having a wonderful fall!

Crazy Hair Day

Today was crazy hair day at school. The kids all wanted fun colors, so it was a pretty easy day. ;) Little Miss wanted this simple style. We have another crazy hair day later in the year and I hope she lets me get a bit wilder. Lol

Homework Woes

We've still been really busy around here, but are almost back to our normal schedule! I will hopefully get a new post up tomorrow. We have picture day coming up and I have a few new styles I've been wanting to try. ;) But for today, I am just going to share a few fun and silly photos...
So, doesn't everyone work on homework like this? Lol
Okay, now for an embarrassing mom moment... First, back story: Every Wednesday at our house is crazy. We leave school, have just enough time for dinner and head to church. Then we get home after that with just enough time for baths and bed... So last week, the kids jumped into the car after school and I paid no attention to anything. ;) After church, I tried to have them finish homework. I sent Little Miss to work on the sheet above. She is in 1st grade and was having trouble. The boys went to bed and I just tried to encourage her to keep going. She ended up falling asleep in the chair. Next morning, I realized this was actually her older brother's assignment. Oooops!!! I helped her with the first few in each section, but she did the rest. She got most of them right! Lol
Well, this was the next morning... HER homework in hand and completed before school! Oh, and she picked her entire outfit that day and was so very proud! ;)

Spiky Boy Style

If you read my post two days ago, then you know what's up with the messy shirt... Anyone with mad Photo shop skills want to help me out? Lol!
Okay, really, this is another style Drama Boy does with his new cut. This is probably my favorite. He has been doing something similar for a long time and I just think it suits him. You might think it is just a crazy mess, but he is very specific about his hair! ;) That being said, it is pretty easy to achieve. He used his Got to Be Glued hairspray all over barely damp hair. He uses a comb to make all the hair on top stand straight up, then he scrunches it with his fists in little sections. Last step is make sure it isn't "too spiky" and then give the very front a good shape. And, he's a happy boy!
I'd love to hear opinions and see some of your boy styles! Email me your photos at merynne@gmail.com and I'd love to share them with the other readers. ~

Happy New School Year!!!

So, this was honestly the best picture I got of all three kids! Guess I should be happy they are excited for school and don't have time for a decent picture?! Lol! Hope everyone is really enjoying the start of the year and some much needed rain in the midwest! I'd love to see your 1st day pics! ;)
