What a month!

Sometimes the days get away from you. In my case, an entire month! Here's a quick look into what I've been up to...

A hospital visit. Miss Sass has asthma. A few weeks ago, she had an asthma attack and just couldn't recover. We rushed to the ER and spent the night there. She had another asthma attack that same weekend. It was not as severe as the first and we did not have to go back in. However, she was then on additional steroids for a little over a week. If you have ever had a child on prednisone, you understand the challenge here! We had a wild child for two weeks!

I am also going through some medical junk... I'm being tested for Celiac disease. More people than ever have at least heard of Celiac disease and gluten intolerance/sensitivity, so some of you may know what this means. I was put on a gluten free diet in the spring following blood tests and have felt so much better! Now however, they have decided to do a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. This means I have to eat gluten again until the test is completed. This means all of my symptoms are coming back, but with a vengeance! I've been throwing up daily and had severe headaches and back pain and I feel like I can barely focus on anything! I'm sure many of you don't care, but hey, it's my blog. Right? :)

Another hospital visit.... Miss Sass again. Not asthma this time. She was chasing her brother through the house and got two fingers slammed in a door. Thankfully, there were no broken bones! She has a pretty nasty gash on one of the fingers and some bruising and swelling on both. It looks to be healing well and will not require stitches, so long as the skin re-attaches itself properly and there is not any infection.

My work and my husband's work have been very busy and overwhelming lately. My hubby has worked many late nights and weekends. With three kids, all involved in different activities, the day just flies by!

All of these things have kept me racing around and feeling that I don't have time even for the things that must be done each day. But things are starting to calm down. It feels like we've finally established a routine for our daily activities.

So, here is the beginning of a list of posts I've had waiting for me to write and publish. Hope you've all had a great month and I look forward to getting back into the swing of things!

Winners, Are You There?! & Taking A Break

Well, I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but I posted the winners of the Giveaway on Wednesday. You should check to see if it's you! ;)

We are going to be taking a break, at least for several days. Little Miss has had a high fever since last night and hasn't awoken for more than a few minutes at a time. I'm am hoping she feels better for her bday party on Sunday, but it isn't looking great right now. :( Hopefully we'll be back soon...

P is for Pneumonia

So, we had a very sick little girl earlier this year... I decided to go ahead and post what happened for two reasons. One, this might help another family avoid this situation. Two, several good online friends have asked and I feel comfortable sharing this information with our blog community. ;) So, hear it is. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
First, I wanted to share a few pictures of Sis. That is one of my favorite things! ;) In the first, you'll see the same tired/sad eyes that we saw for weeks... In the second, the day before she started to get sick. In this picture you can see the circular bruise on her chest. So, here's the story.
Sis became very sick with severe cold/pneumonia-like symptoms. It took a few days before we discovered the cause of her illness. At a birthday party, Sis took a fall and hit her chest on something. This caused a rupture of her left lung and also of the pericardium (sac around the heart). With the rupture, some air was able to seep into the pericardium and the lining around her lung. This caused a nasty infection and pneumonia. After we found the root of the problem, we began treatments. She was on a steroid treatment as well as some antibiotics and other things. This injury has the potential to be very serious, even life-threatening, but God watched over our little girl. The biggest risk was that her coughing could reinjure the tear in her lung or pericardium. (Which would be a bad thing!) We went through several very rough nights. I couldn't sleep while I watched Sis breathing, so shallow and strained. For the few days before we started the treatments, she barely moved and was only awake for a few hours. However, Sis healed very quickly once we knew what was wrong! She started playing and running and dancing again after an OK from the doctor. ;) The original injury was simply an accident, but the rest could have been avoided. The second picture was taken just before dance; that night she started coughing. All of the jumping, skipping, twisting and running in dance class seems to be what started it. Most likely, her injury was worsened by the movement and that is when she got sick. From now on, I will watch chest injuries more closely! But for now I am just happy to have my little girl back! ;)

Okay, so I felt like one more...

One last post for today... I noticed after I got done with the last one that the pictures and words weren't lining themselves up right anymore. So I am changing the pic format a little. It probably won't be noticeable, but the letters hanging out alone next to some of the pictures was bugging me. I decided not to completely redo those posts, so they'll have to stay that way... Now I'm going to bed, maybe I'll see ya tomorrow, maybe not. I might need a break:)

What, someone has done this already?!?!?!

Lol, what did I expect? That I was the first ever to create a hair blog? :) I was so terribly excited to find a blog called "The Story of A Princess and Her Hair" and there I found links to an entire world of hair! Her blog alone was enough to make my head explode, but then to find that there were all these other moms out there doing the same thing... WOW! And so, I have completely thrown myself into their world. I am joining a community of amazing women who have the same fun daily activities that I do! I honestly spent so much time searching the web that I was amazed to find these blogs actually existed. But enough of that... I am hereby a hair blogger and I gladly send you to check out the incredible moms and girls I have discovered. Although I am fairly certain they do not mind, I am awaiting permission before adding any of these blogs to my links. However, as I receive that go-ahead, you will see several new blog links pop up. There are two already, and you won't be disappointed with what you find there!

Okay, and now for a little note about copyrights and credit, etc. I will always do my best to say where I got an idea. However, to be honest, I have spent the last week looking at page after page of styles and I simply might not be able to find the post that I got my inspiration from. Also, my hairstyles are a combination of the things I learned from my Momma, Grandma, and two sisters, as well as the crazy things I tried with my own hair in high school. Then there are also the things I have seen on actors, in modeling ads, on other girls at the park, etc. And of course the other wonderful moms and their blogs, so please don't be upset if you see something that might be yours! If you think it is your design, just send a message and I will happily link to your do. Okay, thanks for letting me take care of that little bit of business! Lol, I am sure all three of my followers right now will certainly feel better:)

Oh, that's one more thing I should mention. I am, on occasion, a little sarcastic...
