It appears Sissy's illness is not in the past after all. :( She now has what is basically asthma. Apparently this is a complication from the pneumonia she had and may take some time to before it's gone. She started with breathing treatments + steriods. And then after two weeks, she will be be on just Xopenex as needed. The pneumonia seems to have healed completely, but what she has now could go away quickly or stick around for years, even the rest of her life. There is really no way to tell, but also nothing to suggest it will interfere with normal life. Right now we are hopeful and praying for healing. ;)

My kids were all preemies and suffered respiratory distress, which made them prone to further breathing difficulties. my last two both developed serious bronchial infections and pneumonia at only a few weeks old. Now those two both get very sick with any cold and have the equivalent of "athletic asthma" where anytime they run and work their lungs hard they cough and wheeze. It's not fun, but it does eventually go away. so sorry you're going thru this but she seems to be taking it in stride and to her this is just the new norm. good luck!
I have that exact same panda machine for my daughters breathing treatments!! She was born premie and got a cold at two months old which really took a tole on her tiny lungs. She's completely over it now but the Dr's say whenever she gets a cold that involves a cough it could come back :( I hope that your daughter gets better!
Thank you Vera! Yes, Alex is handling it way better than I am. ;) She is still able to dance and play like she used to, which I am so so thankful for! It is sad, but also comforting to know that others understand what we are going through.
There is an advantage to Alexandra's older age. She knows why she needs the breathing treatments and we are able to work together. I can't imagine what it must have been like for you ladies with infants.

Alex loves her panda; she named her Mei Mei! ;)
